Where the East Midlands' Norse jarls arranged southern Bedfordshire raids, one such raid occurred in 912, including the Dunstable areas.
In response to the Massacre of St. Bride's executed by Bedfordshire' King Athelred the Unready, and the Dunstable area by extension was affected by Norse raids that were later, under Kings Cnut of Denmark and Sweyn Forkbeard.
The Woodside Estate, which contains most of the factories and warehouses that still exist in Dunstable, is in the area.
